Brief Description of the Collaboratory :

The Athena Breast Health Network unites California women, physicians, and researchers to better personalize breast careā€”from screening to breast cancer prevention and treatment.

Their program unites physicians, researchers, and patients at the five University of California medical centers, the UCSF Institute for Health Policy Studies, and the School of Public Health at UC Berkeley. They aim to reduce the number of women who develop breast cancer as well as to improve treatments for and survival of those women with the disease by driving innovation in care. They are creating a framework that will allow their care providers to learn from all 150,000 of their patients, rather than just the women they see directly or those who participate in clinical trials.

Women who receive breast care at one of the five UC medical centers are enrolled at the time of their mammogram.

Access to Instruments :

Access to Information Resources :

Using new electronic medical record (EMR) technology, they will collect specific, structured data from all 5 centers through a uniform platform that will enable clinicians and researchers to query and learn from the data.

Access to People as Resources :

Funding Agency or Sponsor :
